WOODVILLE.

The annual prize giving m the form of a sit down tea for the children with adults, about 100 were present. Afterwards Miss Sheen with assistance from Mrs Davidson, Mrs Johnston and teachers presented the carol playette by the Sunday School children. The dresses of the Angels, Magi, shepherds were very good indeed and the "crib" kindly lent by the Vicar of Khandallah, was quite useful — several of the children gave presents as the Magi made theirs and these were sent to Father Christmas for Abbotsford Home. Each child (71) was presented with a book — either as a prize won or a present — and a happy crowd went home after partaking of ice creams for supper, kindly provided by the vicar and Mrs. Davidson. The Church Army Mission starts here on the 3rd of February, concluding at Evensong on the 10th and although coming at an awkward time for the best of preparations, we hope and pray that Captains Grace and Roe will have a good response from parishioners and that the Holy Spirit will lead us all to a livelier faith and greater devotion to our Divine Master and His Church. Here is a good story from the "Morning Post": "During recent military operations m the. Far East, one side captured the other's general. An envoy was sent to negotiate his exchange. 'We will give you four colonels for him,' said the officer. The offer was declined. 'Eight majors?' —'No.' 'Whajt, then?'— 'We have given the matter most careful consideration, and the least we can accept are two dozen tins of condensed milk.'"
