THE DOMINANT DESIGN.

(By the Rev. W. Bullock, Wellington.)

We offer the heartiest congratulations to the Vicar of St. Peter's for this extension of his acceptable ministry. Mr Bullock is frequently heard over the air ,and has always something fresh and stimulating for his hearers. And now m this booklet of 48 pages tie has rendered a notable service to the youth of the Church. It is a friendly talk on the Bible, an at-

tempt "to show what a wonderful book

it is, what great things it has done and still will do." Churchmen have often lamented the fact that the puerile propaganda of the obscurantist sects has flooded every nook and <jranny of our land. The reason for this is that they have put out their matter m handy and readable form. On the other hand, the Church has been woefully short of the right kind of tract for the general reader. Mr Bullock's work has fairly and squarely given us something worth while m this direction. There is a necessary -absence of technicalities, but there is nothing careless m the judgments of the author. He recognises gratefully the work of great scholars, and it will be strange if readers of this little introduction do not acquire an appetite for fuller information on the Bible. Certainly the author has put another side of the story told m the preface, lor example, to Bernard Shaw's "An•drocles and the Lion." The airy agnosticism of such a writing cannot be so easily swallowed by the modern youth after he has read — which we trust he will do — "The Dominant Design." It is published at 6d a copy, -and anyone who wants to do a bit of really useful Christian work couldn't do better than spend 10s or £1 and distribute to the young men and women of his acquaintance this booklet, It is produced and printed m excellent manner by the Presbyterian Bookroom, Christchurch, and may be obtained from the Church^Book Store, Wellington, from which our copy was sent (Ed. W.C.G.)
