THE REV. H. COLLIER

Those who remember Mr. Collier as Vicar of Takapau, and subsequenty Vicar of Te Karaka, will be interested ■m reading the following extract from the Ryde Parish Magazine. The subject uppermost m our thoughts just now is the coming change m the clerical staff of the parish. It will.be known to most of you by this time that Mr. Collier has been offered and has accepted the living of Beech Hill, Nr. Reading, and will be leaving All Saints to enter on his new work before the end of the year. Our first thought is one of hearty congratulation to Mr. Collier on his well-deserved promotion, and of very sincere good wishes .for his happiness m his new parish' From all accounts it is one that offers every prospect of the happiness that we all desire for him. But there is of course another side to this matter, and that is the keen sense of coming loss which the thought of Mr. Collier's departure brings to us all. Mr. Collier and I have worked together m perfeot -harmony and with mutual rionfidenoj for the last five years both m Bournemouth and m Ryde, and I kno«? that I am losing a colleague whom it will be very hard to replace, and 0113 on whose sane judgment willing co-opera-tion, and complete sense of responsibility; I have learned to rely implicitly. He has been an ideal parish priest, devoting himself wholerhearted and most unselfishly to the interests of his parishioners. And there are very many who will sorely miss his constant and kindly ministrations. But the very knowledge of how much we owe to him will, I am sure, increase the feeling of how well-deserved is the promotion which has come to him quite unsought. And oiice more m my own name as well as m yours I wish him and Mrs. Collier with all my heart God speed! (Vicar's Notes).
