WAIPAWA.
Vicar: The Rev. J. Pigott.. The Vicar was away during September consequently no services were held at Springhill or Tikokino. The Mothers' Union met last month at Abbotsford Home, Miss Jones acting as hostess for the afternoon. The opening service was conducted by the Vicar m the Chapel, after which the members were shown round the Home, and all expressed themselves m glowing terms of the good work going on there. The meeting this montfli is to be addressed by the • Rev. F. W. Robertson. The Rev. W. T. Drake is visiting the parish m connection with the General Diocesan Fund, and is to preach at all services on Sunday, October 19th. On Synod Sunday we received a visit' from the Rev. W. H.Sinith, Vicar of Tolaga Bay. He preached for us m the evening and his sermon on thanks- ; giving w as very niuch appreciated by " all.""' ''■ ■■' "- -'. ' . ' : ! '"° It is encouraging to see the increasing number of communicants at our early Communions m Waiipawa, and to see the country people coming more regularly to ilhe service at Ongaonga. We are hoping to have a Convention m the parish the last week m Febru-
ary. A Convention is a modified kind of mission. It will last for eight days starting on Sunday evening. The iown of Waipawa will be thoroughly canvassed and all members of the Church asked to join the Convention. Each person on joining will be given a card, which will be stamped each day of the Convention by the Vicar or someone m authority. Eiach member who makes a full number of attendances will be given a "token" m remembrance of the Convention. We trust that all will make this a matter of prayer from now on that we may have a deeping of spiritual life m our midst. We must be on our guard for we may be sure that' the Devil will be very active m our midst.
