St. Augustine's

Vicar: The Rev 1 . A. Hodge. Assistant Curate : The Rev. J. Zimmerman. Our Sunday Schools are now again m full swing. The attendances are not yet all they might be, but they are growing steadily. This year we have entered on a new departure. Besides the afternoon schools at S. Augustine's and S. Luke's, we have started a morning class at at S. Augustine's at 10 a.m. for those unable to attend the afternoon Sunday Schools. The attendance on the first Sunday was 7, but on a recent Sunday the attendance had grown to 30, with a still larger number on the roll. There is now no reason why every child m the parish should not be able to atten-r Sunday School^ at any rate, no one can now ©ay that the hour does not suit them. Larger attendance at the morning class will be conducive to more efficient working, because then more teachers will have to be found, and the children divided into classes according to ages. The Scouts and Guides have entered on what promises to be a very successful year. They are looking forward to the Easter camps, and many other events, especially the visit of the Chi: '. Scout and Chief Guide. Mr. and Mrs. Saunders have recently left on a visit to England. They will be greatly missed during their absence. Nurse Savory has also left us to take a trip Home. She too will be missed from this parish, her work among the sick, and as secretary of the Prayer Circle is most appreciated. During her

absence Nurse Oppenheiin will carry on the work of secretary to the Prayer Circle. "We wish all three voyagers : pleasant journey. On Wednesday, February 23rd., the children of both Sunday Schools spent a most enjoyable evening m the S. Augustine's, schoolroom. There were not so many prasent as there might have been had the weather been good, but those present appreciated their evening's entertainment, particularly the sweets which were distributed during the interval. The Kindergarten children of g. Luke's also spent a very enjoyable afternoon, on Mrs. Smith's back lawn on Saturday, March Bth. The weather was ideal, and the time passed very pleasantly for the 40 or so children present, m games and afternoon tea. During Lent we are having special Lenten Mission services, at S. Augustine's on Wednesdays, and at S. Luke's on Tuesdays. The attendances so far have been very good for weekday and week-night services, and we hope that these services will result m a quickening of the spiritual life of the parish.
