DIOCESAN NOTES
The Parish of Wairoa must have a very energetic Secretary and Treasurer. The financial year closed on the 31st March, yet the annua! meeting was held on the 7th April and. the returns were m the .Office by the 11th. This surely is a record and we congratulate the Vinland parishioners. A private letter has been re--K-ived from the Bishop, just after his arrival m England, stating that Mrs. Sedgwick had benefited considerably by the voyage. The parish of Woodville wanted ibout £50 to clear the deficit on 'ast year's working.. In order to wipe this off they decided to mafe m appeal at the Harvest '\ hanks living Service. Considering that hany m the district are dairy ■ iarmers, who are suffering fin ansially, it is gratifying to hear tlwy •aised nearly £35. Enquiries are sometimes made is to the number of children we lave m the Children's Homes. There are 26 m St. Hilda-? and. ■17 m AbbotsjEord. Very shortly Abbotsford will have its hid nnni-
ber, 30, as another , application- is being considered to admit. 3 children. In St. Mary's thejfo are 21 children and this appears to be about the average throughout the year, '; . Archdeacon Chatterton we hear, has now left the hospital and returned to his home; the latest report is that he is gaining strength and making progress.
