General Diocesan Fund.
The result of the S.O.S appeal which appeared m the January issue of the " Gazette" has been productive, m some eases of increased subscriptions and of a small number of new subscribers. The full result, however, cannot be gauged by the number of new subscribers nor yet by the increased subscriptions ; interest m the Fund and m the scope of its operations has been considerably stimulated, and for -this we are thankful. If the interest of the Church people becomes keen then the ultimate success of the Fund is assured. Therehas been much to encourage us of late. ; The offer by a lady to give £10 to the Fund (for Maori Mission purposes) provided nine others would do the same is an example of the kind of encouragement received. At present no other offers of £10 have been received, but we are hopeful. Will some of those who read this article help us to be m a position to claim the £10.
The following letter from a new subscriber shows how Church people do respond when the - Church is m need': — "In response to the appeal ■which -reached me recently I willingly forward the enclosed cheque, and earnestly trust that all interested m the Church's responsibilities will speedily be- freed from the anxiety of the present crisis." The financial year ends on March 31st next/ and we are still a considerable sum short of the amount required to- meet our liabilities. Each Ohurchinan and Churchwoinan has two opportunities of helping us .to meet this liability. First by sending to' the Organising Secretary, Diocesan Office, Box 227, Napier a subscription or donation,, and secondly* by contributing through jthe special collection for the General Diocesan Fund on Sunday, March- 26th.
As we thank God for the response already made we. take new courage and hope for still further blessings.
