Cathedral Chapter.
The Chapter met , on Friday, July 15th, m the Cathedral vestry. Ail the members were present, except one who was absent through sickness. The Bishop announced the resignation of the Rev. E. A. Hunt, of Mata*,wai, on account of illness, and the appointment of Miss Olive Seth-Smith to the charge of the Mission House at Whakarewarewa. The Bishop informed the Chapter of the difficulties that had arisen^witn regard to the immediate • establishment of the Bush Brotherhood m the Bay of Plenty. The Chapter expressed their sincere sympathy with him m the temporary check to the realisation of a scheme from which he had hoped so much. The Bishop detailed the arrangements for the Quiet Day and Conference to take place m the week before Synod. It was resolved to ask the Rev. E. Lush, of Auckland, to conduct the Quiet Day. Retreatants will assemble at Woodfprd Souse on Thursday evening, September Bth, when the first address will be given. Three addresses will be given on Friday, the 9th, arjd the regtila* fo*
votions with meditation will .occupy the rest of the day. The Conference .on reunion will be held on Saturday. Matters m connection with the annual retreat m May, 1922, were.discussed, and it was resolved to invite clergy from all parts of the North Island to be present. Canon Packe was requested to consult Poverty Bay clergy regarding a special retreat for that district. The Bishop was asked to bring before the next meeting of the Standing Committee of General Synod the question of organising a petition for the repeal of the recent divorce legislation. • The establishment of a Diocesan Girls' School at Te Rau was discussed and it was resolved to ask the Standing Committee to take steps to open such a school. The Bishop announced that two sisters, Misses Webb, were on their way from England to take charge of the school. Regulations suggested by Stall 2 for the management of Diocesan Secondary Schools were discussed and referred back to the Stall for further consideration. It was decided that the Diocesan architect, together with the members of Stall 4, should visit the site at Abbotsford, Waipawa, with a view to drawing out plans for the building of the Abbotsford Home. A resolution was passed expressing to Dr. Deck the thankful apprecia-. tion of his gratuitous services to St. Hilda's Home. The Bishop announced that Dr. Deck's successor, Dr. Morgan, had very kindly written stating that he would continue the work begun by Dr. Deck.
