Otane.

Vicar: Rev. G. W. Davidson. Confirmation classes are well started. There are not as many eandickates as there ought to be, but a happy band. The choir, under Rev. 11. Blathwayt, continues faithful service, and m spite of wet, dark nights are generally m full force of sixteen voices. The new vesper introduced by Mr Cowley is beautiful and our thanks are due to him, as also for writingout so many copies for the congregation. ■ • Elsthorpe. — In answer to a letter from the Vicar to the Rev. F. Robertson, the Elsthorpe Presbytery have voted £10 to the Organ Fund. Congregation here are all too poor compared with the effort made to keep regular services and fewer services may be the result. There is, however, a small faithful band who seldom or never miss. The Vicar values their spirit. Omakere. — The work here is a big thing, and a ready response is being made. On a recent Sunday there was a Baptismal service of five children and another of at least nine is being- arranged for. There is a good prospect for Confirmation classes, but the Vicar has decided there must be a special time as the distance from Otane is too great for classes m winter. A very nice congregational social was held lately and a collection for the Organ Fund was taken up, resulting m 43s clear. The Rev. R. G. Finch, chaplain of Te Aute College, and his wife were welcome visitors at the Vicarage and Mr Finch's sermons on Holy Baptism and on Confirmation were a help to many and we hope he may spend another vacation amongst us.
