St. Augustine's, Napier.
Vicar: Rev. B. D. Rice, M.A. The Sunday school picnic on Feb.jraary 2nd was a great success; 1 over 400 scholars and parents went out to Farndon Park and had a delightful day; the .expenses of over £20 Vere met by subscriptions. The Harvest Thanksgiving Services on Quinquagesima Sunday were very. well attended and very hearty; about 20 came to decorate on . the' Saturday, and the church looked beautiful. A wonderful lot of parishioners sent offerings from. their gardens, and it was inspiring at the children's service to see them' all coming up to lay their offerings at; God's, Altar. The flowers were sent, to the Public Hospital, and the fruit and vegetables to; St. Mary's Home and the sick and poor of the parish. On the first Sunday m Lent a brass was unveiled before a large congregation to the memory of Lady Whitmorej who, for many years, was such a faithful -worshipper m the church.
. There were 50 communicants on Ash Wednesday, and the Lenten' services are 1 being well attended. The Vicar is preaching courses of sermons, on Thursday and Sunday evenings. ' , ■•: .
