St. Augustine's, Napier.

Vicar: Rev. E. D. Rice, M. A. We kept our Dedication Festival on Sunday, October 17th. There was a fine number of communicants at the two celebrations. The Vicar of Hastings preached at the Choral Eucharist on the subject of "Praise," and em-, phasised the point that we should make the Eucharist the centre of our worship and religion. In the. evening the Vicar preached on the Church as the centre of spiritual power. There were good congregations all day. On the following day a most enjoyable parish social evening was held. One of the items was a good address by Mr A. Turner Williams on the subject of the General Diocesan Fund. Supper was served by the members of the Dorcas Society. The Sunday School scholars had the next evening, and were entertained at tea, followed by games and an excellent impromptu concert by themselves." The dancing classes ended last month after a very enjoyable season. They have proved a great success, and the numbers have kept up to the end. In spite of the wet day for the collections for the General Diocesan Fund, with the retiring collection on the following Sunday, our amount is a record from this parish. We are holding a final Gift Sale on Wednesday, November 10th, m "aid of 1 our Organ Fund. We have £897 out of the £907 required for the complete organ, but we need extra for the memorial brass for our fallen heroes, and also some of the structural alter-' ations to the church. We want this to be our last effort, sq,.we shall be .glad of the help of all. . r An enjoyable social and "sinokeoh r r for men was. organised: by our C.E.M.S; last month. We discussed

reasons why men don't go to church.
