Standing Committee.
A meeting of ; Standing Committee was held on August sth. Letters were read from the vestries of one or two parishes asking fdF special consideration m the allocation of grants m aid of stipend. After some, discussion -it was agreed that the grants- be rnatie on the understanding "that serious efforts are made to increase the\ stipend to the' minimum' laid down • by Synod. ■ -Mr A. Turner Williams outlined an estimate of the needs of the diocese to be provided from" the Central Fund. ' Standing Committee resolved that a capital s^iim of £50^000 be Maimed at as the least amounjfc necessary to provide for essential heeds. It was decided to . recommend Synod to' pay the travelling, expenses of lay members.
