English Bishops .with 2000 chaplains are.: witti the British troops', the Archbishop of Perth, the Bishop of ■ Kalgoorlie and the Bishop of Bathurst.are with the Australians ; Bishop , Brent, ; f orr merly of the Philippines, is with : ' the Americans; but there is. no Bishop with the New Zealanders. 2. Bishop Sadlier is ■ the youngest of New Zealand Bishops,: but. holds the highest military ; rank as a chaplain and therefore, without infringing on Military Kegulations will be ipso facto Senior' Chaplain when he gets. there.' 3. There are 35,000 Anglican soldiers at the front without a ; Bishop, but there are only 25,000; Anglicans (men, women 'and children) m the : Nelson (Diocese/ ! ! 4. Nelson Diocesan affairs are m: such a satisfactory condition that he can be spared for the timei The Bishops of "Wellington and' Christchurch- will perform' any necessary Episcopal duties. Bishop Sadlier will • receiye a free; passage to England and rations, but no military pay, salary or stipend. .
