S. Augustine's, Napier.

Vicar: Rev. Eric D, Mice, M.A. During, Holy Week there were a good number of communicants daily at 6.30 a.m. A most inspiring service was the children's service on Good Friday morning, which was very well attended ; their Lenten self-denial savings, amounting to £6 1 5s, were offered to God at the service and sent to the Church of England Waifs and Strays Society^ London. The Three Hours' Service was taken by the Vicar, and about 150 people came for at least a part of it; the offerings here and at the evening's service amounted to £6 10s, and were sent to St. Mary's Home, Napier. : A good number turned up on Easter Eve to show their devotion like Mary Magdalene by decorating the church, and it looked very beautiful. There were 195 communicants on Easter Day, and the other services were well attended, and were very hearty. The Vicar was assisted at. two of the celebrations by the Bey. John Hobbs, to whom we are most grateful. , ..'.'■ The latest marriage has been between two members of our choir, Mr Arthur Robinson and Miss Ward, to whom we offer our beat wiahes for their future happiaesi,

At Easter our organist, Mr Harston, on behalf of our ohoii* and other Napier friends, presented Mr Herbert D. Robinson with a cheque m appreciation of his character and splendid record as a faithful member of church choirs for 53 years; Regret was expressed that his health had compelled him to retire from this work for God. On April 18th our Boys' Scouts gave a very good display of Scout work before a very large and appreciative audience. Our Scout leaders, under: Mr Bonishae, have just done a good work by organising and equipping a troop at the H.B. Boys' Home ; they took part m the display. The Vestry finds that we are still over £20 behindhand m the finances of the parish, and it appeals to the parishioners to give liberally during May and June, so that we may finish the financial year with a credit balance.
