Havelock.

Though beginning a little later than last year, we have made up for it by having a greater number of meetings, and these were. well attended. Our Associates number five — one honorary and four working. Of members there are twenty-one — -sixteen at Hayelock and five at Olive. It gave us pleasure to hear that a Branch had begun at Olive, with DeaconeSs Esther Brand as working Associate, Miss G-ardiner, and I enjoyed an afternoon at this Branch, arid saw good work was being done. We have sent to the Eed Cross, m Napier, during the year thirteen pairs of socks, two pairs of mittens, one pair shooting mittens, and one Balaclava, the wool given by our G.F.S. It was decided at the first meeting of the year to go on steadily working for the Eed Cross, and we have done so, and sent m three bundles of finished work m consequence, and we are well into a fourth. At our working evenings, we are much indebted to our Associates, Mrs Nairn and Miss Gardiner for reading to us delightful books. One Tuesday, Deaconess Esther Brand gave us a very helpful talk on the real meaning of the GhF.S. and its object, and. how. we each cpuld, help by being faithful members of it. We were glad to have our Vicar, the Bey. J. A. Lush, to give us a service m the Church before our opening for the year, we all wished him great success as Chaplain to our Troops, and pray that he will return m safety ere long. Amongst the work for the year we made and presented some much needed curtains to the vestry. Last Tuesday we had an enjoyable social evening, charging one shilling admittance, for a piano fund, as We feel the social part of our work must not be neglected. J. E. COTTLE,.
