Ormondville.

Vicar : Rev. L. J. M. Maclcay, B.A. I must apologise for there.not having been any local parish notes during the last two months. Last month the Vicar was away for his holiday, but owing to having to undergo medical treatment was away longer than he intended. During his absence the services were conducted by the Rev. F. Martin, assisted by Mr Fothergill, and the Vicar would take this opportunity of expressing his gratitude to' them for thus enabling him to get away. Mr Martin also desires to express his appreciation of the kindness shown, him during his stay at Ormondville, and especially to those who drove him to the various services and to Mr Love for his hospitality m putting him up at the hotel. • The Vicar ha.s up to- the present received from, various Church members the sum of £.5 which has been sent to the Rev. K. Maclean for the Church of England Institute for Wounded Soldiers at Rotorua. This is made up of one gift of £1 3s 6d, two of £l. three of I as, one of 4s, and one of 3s 6d. The offerings on Whitsunday for the Melanesian Mission, amounted to £4 is 3d— Ormondville £2 17s 6d, Norsewood 9s gd, and Makotuku,. 14s.

Sunday School teachers are still urgently needed for Makotuku. The Sunday School has now been closed for some time. Surely ma> place the size of Makotuku there are some who - will be ready to make the selfsacrifice necessary to carry on a work so needful for the well-being of the Church. . We are sorry to lose the Sanders from Kopua for a tiiiie. During their absence the monthly service will have to be discontinued unless we can find somewhere else to hold it m the meantime. The attendance at the monthly service both at Whetukura and Kopua at present hardly justify their continuance and it is a question whether it might not be more profitable for the Vicar to devote these two Sunday afternoons to children's services at Ormondville and Makotuku, as at present there is no opportunity of his visiting the Sunday Schools. The Vicar is very sorry to have to say that for health reasons and acting under medical advice he has been compelled to send m his resignation to the Bishop. He -hopes, however, to be able to carry on until a successor is appointed. He is very sorry to leave the parish, and that it should have to undergo another change so soon, but under the circumstances it is the only thing to do. Two weddings of Church members have taken place lately, that of Miss Schaare, of Makotuku, to Mr Clark, and Miss Daisy Benbow to Mr Dew who is about to go into camp. We wish them every happiness. Two members of the Vestry have also lately gone into Camp, Messrs T. and G. Smith. Their absence will be felt m our now sadly depleted Vestry, as they hay© always been to the fore m anything which has been for the good of the Church. Our . good wis'ies and prayers will go with them. Our thanks 1 are due to those who have given up some of their time to weeding the paths round the Church at Makotuku. The Vicar has now received offerings with which to get two Altar crosses, one for the Church at Makotuku and one for JNorsewood, for the proper furnishing of our Churches, and hopes to see them m place before he leaves. ' . MARRIAGES. " Those whom God hath joined together let no man put asunder." April 24th, Norman Edwin Clark to Mary Charlotte Schaare. June 17th, Alfred George Dew to Daisy Benbow. June 17th, William Alexander de Greenlaw to Cora Martin.
