Waiapu Church Gazette. JULY -AUGUST, 1916. Report of Standing Committee

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Diocese was held at Napier on. Friday, June 2nd. Present : The Bishop, Archdeacon Ruddock, Canon Mayne, Rev. J. B. Brocklehurst, Messrs Fielder, McLean, Sheath and Dr. Henley. 1. ' Letters were received from Archdeacon C. L. Tuke and Rev. E. Rice, expressing thanks for grant towards removal expenses. 2. A communication was received from the Parish ■ of Gisborne re the collection of rents of Church ■properties leased by the Diocesan Trustees. The matter was referred' to the Finance Committee to consider and report. 3. A grant was made to Mrs Cockerill of £25 from Insurance money towards expenses of renovating her house. 4. Bishop Williams authorised payment of the sum of £$0 from the Waiapu Trust towards the cost of purchase of land for Church purposes at Mat a wai. 5. It was agreed that, owing to the increased cost of publication of the Diocesan Gazette thrduigh 4 ' war prices," the same should be issued every other month. 6. An application for .grant by the district of Takapau was referred to the Archdeacon of Hawke's Bay for enquiry and report. 7. An application for a loan of £50 from the district of Te Puke for purchase of land at Pangaroa. was referred to the Archdeacon of Tauranga for enquiry and report. 8. A grant of £10 extra allows ance. for travelling expenses was made to the Rev. M. M. Tamatori. q. Sundry accounts were passed fpr payment,

A letter was received from the Military Affairs' Committee for the Province stating that the sun? necessary to be raised for the year would be Of this sum the Diocese of Waiapu is assessed at ,£250, the Dioceses of Auckland, Christchurch and , Wellington each at /,'3oo, and the Dioceses of Nelson and Dunedin each at /,'2oo. Archdeacrn Ruddock was asked to arrange for the collection of the sum needed (£250) from this Diocese. 12. A letter was received from a donor of /400 to inaugurate a capital account as a Memorial Fund for the Archdeaconry of Hawke's Bay, to be invested by the Waiami Board of Diocesan Trustees, the income thereof to V. r»aid towards the income of the Archdeacon of Hawke's Bay, and if at an^ time m any one y e ar the income. shall not be expended, any balance at credit on June 30th m each year to be placed to the cred't of th? capital account of the Trust.
