Waipukurau.

Vicar: Rev. A. W. 0. Stace. On April 20th we had a very pleasant visit from the Rev. O. J. Kimberley. He gave us a missionary talk, with lantern views, on. the work of the New Zealand Church Missionary Association in New Zea-/ land, Japan, China, India, jAfrica, and Persia, in S. Mary's Hall, on Tuesday evening, and was very much appreciated by one aoid all present. The Waipukurau Branch of the Mother's Unioni has decided to forward three dozen pairs of socks immediately to our men at the front. A special meeting, under the auspdces of the above Branch was held on Friday last, at which Mrs Stace, the President, presided. A proposal was moved and "unanimously carried that a Mothers' Union Red Gross League be formed. The following committee was then elected : Mesdames Winlove, R. Harding, Stace, Flood, L, Reid, Nicholson, Bood, and Brood (Secretary). It was decided that/ the meetings be held every Thursday in S. Mary's H'all to receive and to give out the necessary work. AH the work as finished will be forwarded through the controlling, centre for the distribution amongst the New Zealand sick and wounded. On Sunday, May 9th, a Children's Autumn Floral Service was held at 11 a.m. and was very largely attended. The children formed into procession and each carried beautiful flowers. Headed by the Vicar, they m'arched up the aisle during the singing of Hymn 595. The Vicar re- ' «eived the flowers and placed them on> the aisle ; the service was very bright and interesting. During the afternoon the teachers and. scholars of the* Bible Class and SundaySchool took the flowers and distri-

buted them among the patients at the local hospital, where they were much appreciated by the inmates. It is with very great regret that I have to record the death of Mr Alfred Herbert, of Mount Herbert, WaApukurau, the result of an unfortunate accident. It is with sincere regret we heard of the loss sustained by Archdeacon and Mrs "Ruddock, and extend our heartfelt sympathy to them. BAPTISMS. Margaret Isabell Von Doddszen. .
