The need of a Rescue Home was affirmed by the Synod of the Diocese m 1912, and the Bishop was requested by the Standing Committee to secure the services of a Deaconess to organise this work of mercy and to take the oversight of such. A Deaconess who has been trained m England, and who for some time past was the head of a Deaconess' Institution m the Home Country, is due to arrive m New Zealand towards the end of August. Buildings which are thought to be suitable have been secured for the 11 Home," and it is estimated that it will be, necessary . tp , raise, the s.um of for working expenses

The Committee ; make an. earnest appeal for donations to mteet the initial outlay and for yearly subscriptions for ,the maintenance of the work.
