Diocesan Notes.

The Bishop of Melanesia recently visited the Diocese, and was able to plead the cause of the Mission at Havelock, Hastings, the Cathedral (Napier), and at Gisborne and District. Archdeacon Uthwatt has also spent some time m the Diocese, and either preached or. addressed meetings at Taradale, Puketapu, S. Augustine's (Napier), Waipawa, Takapau, Woodville, Orniondville, Tauranga, Te Puke, and Rotorua. He also gave lectures on Melanesia to Miss Sutton's school, Napier, to the Hukarere Girls 1 School, and to the Girls' High School and Boys' High School at Napier. The Bishop has received promises .of ,£3OO towards the purchase of a motor-boat, and the Archdeacon has had guaranteed the* support of a scholar at the Training School for Teachers from most of the places he visited. The Mission ship, the Southern Cross, is to leave Auckland for the Islands on April 15. '
