Bible m Schools.— A large number of meetings have been held under the auspices of the League. An opposition League has been formed, but so far nothing, much has been done. At the 'distribution of prizes at Christ's College, the new headmaster, Mr. Belcher, spoke of the absolute necessity of imparting to boys' and girls' educational careers some 'distinctive religious influence. He intends next term to extend the daily chapel service to the day students as well as to the boarders. He regards the chapel service as the very centre of all public school life. No old public school boy would deny its influence. This influence was, he- admitted, very largely unconscious, but it was nevertheless most potent. To secure the highest success m this new step, Mr. Belcher appealed to the parents of. the boys for their co-operation. The applause of the audience suggested that such, cooperation woitid willingly be forthcoming. Re-building Scheme. — S. Matthew's, S. Albatis, has embarked

upon a big scheme. Schoolroom. Church, and Vicarage are to be rebuilt, probably m, ferro-concrete, at a cost of about The main source of income is a box scheme, by which nearly 8000 small tin boxes are being, distributed, into each of which one penny (or more) is to be placed every week. It is confidently anticipated that at least ,£IOOO ,will be derived annually from this source. It is a thoroughly democratic scheme.
