Vicar: Rev. E. Sober ishawe, B.A. Curate: Rev. G. E. Nicholas. There was a large attendance off memlbers of the Mothers' Union at the meeting held on Sept. 18th, at Mrs. G-iesen's residence. After the opening service, several matters of interest were discussed, after which Mrs. Gillespie sang " Daddy " m her usual pleasing style, and some line selections on the gramaphoaie were enjoyed while a dainty afternoon tea was handed round. A programme was arranged for the next meeting, to be held m the Parish Hair on Oct. 16. . The mothers would like it known that they are willing to lend a useful Dorcas bag to anyone needing it, and also that they would be pleased to welcome • new members. A comfortable room has been enlarged, and. a chimney added, m the Parish Hall for the meetings 1 , which are held every third Wednesday. Confirmation classes have just been commenced m the Parish. Two classes are held weekly m S. .John's one after evensong on Sundays, attended as well by a considerable numiber of adult communicants, and the other on Saturday afternoons, specially for six candidates who live six or seven miles away. Smaller classes are held at Matamau 1 and Heretaungii. . , . The following have been elected a Church Committee at Te Rehunora •for the ensuing year : — Messrs AY. Bell, H. H. Phillips, Capper, D'Arcy Beere, Berg, Matson, Stanlield, i<xilin, Bprlase, and Oread. The chief work* before the Committee is the erection of a Church on the site kindly given by Mr. Phillips. For the purpose of collecting money towards the Church Building Fund, a Ladies' Committee has been formed to work m conjunction with the men. It consists of Mesd^mes .Phillips, Stanfield, Matson, Allen: Beere, Capper, Edlin, Berg, King, and Miss Bell. If the enthusiasm so far shown is continued, the new Church ought to be erected within the nsxt six months. The Festival Pay of S. Michael and All Angels, Matamau, falls this year on a Sunday (Sept. 29th). In addition to the usual evening service, there will be a celebration of Holy Communion at 11 o'clock, which all Communicants are urged to attend. A social gathering of parishioners will be held m "the Public Hall on the follown^ day (Monday).
