Ormondville.
Vicar: Rev. M. Gockerill. B.A. An important and special meeting of the Vjestry took place on August 17th to meet Archdeacon Ruddock, who came as representing the Commission appointed at the last Synod to draw up a report respecting the boundaries of Parishes. The boundaries of the Parishes m the Diocese have never been formally defined. Now this important work is being taken m hand. After a full discussion and examination of a large map of the district, and a statement from the Vicar as to the actual working boundaries, it was decided, first, to finally surrender Matamau as a part of the Parish, it having been attached for the past three years to Pannevjrk.e.
The following resolution was unanimously adopted, viz. ..•; — "That it be a recommendation to the Commission, from the Vicar and Vestry of the Parochial District of Ormondville, that the boundaries of this Parochial District be as follows : — "On the West — The Mangatawainui River to its crossing the NapierWellington Road ; hence m a NorthWesterly direotion to the Ruahine Range, extending Southward along the Mangatawainui .River to its junction with the Manawatu ; hence along the Manawatu to its junction with the Mangapuaka River. "On the South— The Mangapuaka River. "On the Hast— A line drawn North and South about three miles due East from the Whetukura township. "On the North — A line running NorthWest and South-East at a point along the Takapau-Kopua Road about two miles from the Kopua Raiway Station." We have to record the death of no less than three Parishioners since our last monthly report : — Mr. Henry Ghadwich, at the early age of 19, passed away on the 21st August m the Dannevirke Hospital, In Ormondville, on Friday, the Sth instant, Mr. George ffansen, one of our oldest residents, a man much respected for his sterling honesty, passed away at the ripe age of 81. His funeral took place on the following Sunday and was largely attended. On the, same Sunday evening there passed away, m the Waipukurau Hospital,' a lady who has been much esteemed for many years— if* I *. Ellen Olsen, aged 57. Her health for four or five years has been most delicate and precarious. A few months ago she was thought to be fatally ill, but she recovered for the time. She had herself a conviction she would pass away when the Spring came. We can ill ~ spare ladies of such high moral tone and Christian character. In days of health and strength she shewed much interest m Church affairs, and to the end was an example of deep piety alike to her family and her neighbourhood.
