Diocesan Notes.

Men's Services. —On the Bishop's recent visit to Takapau and district, a service for men was held m the Church on the Monday evening, and no less than sixty men attended and joined heartily m the service. The Bishop spoke upon the subject of indifference, and congratulated the men . of Takapau upon the excellent turnout for the service. On the previous Sunday evening the Church was crowded, the vestry was filled and many were unable to get into the building. Takapau men apparently do go to Chur;ch. The Bishop is always glad to hold a special service for men when he visits a parish. We are much indebted to Mrs Sidney Johnston, of Takapau, for kindly offering to build a Vicarage for the use of the resident •clergyman at Takapau. The site for the Vicarage which is also the gift of Mrs Johnston, and which is m an excellent position, will shortly be transferred to the Diocesan Trustees. The Rev. Allen F. Gardiner and Mrs Gardiner have left New Zealand en route for England, and will probably be away for about twelve months. During. the interregnum m the Parish of Havelock North, the Rev. L. Mackey will be assisted by the Rev. H. H. S. Hamilton, of Gisborne. Miss Sybil Lee has sufficiently recovered from her recent attack of typhoid to be- able to leave the East Coast, and is visiting Napier before she goes to Nelson and S. Andrew's. We trust that she will soon be able to return to Tokomaru and resume her work. We are all very thankful that Bishop Williams has recovered from his severe attack of influenza and has returned to his residence m Napier.
