Meeting of the Diocesan Council.

A meeting* of the Diocesan Council of the Mothers' Union was held at Bishop's Court on March 27th. Present : Mesdames Averill (President), Cargill, Hansard, Ruddock, Taylor,. Lascelles, and Maclean. Letters were read from Mrs Tisdall, Rotorua, and Mrs Maude, Central (Secretary, London. The Secretary was. instructed to write to secretaries of branches at Hastings, Havelock N\, Te Aute, Waipukurau, Dannevirke,

Ormondville, telling" .them that all branch secretaries, m virtue of their office, have seats on the Diocesan Council ; they also must elect one other member, to represent their branch on the Council meeting's. Constitution of Mothers' Union, with revisions, read, and approved. Proposed and seconded that each branch should have a copy of the constitution, President to write for the same. — Carried. Seven suggestions for correspondents read : — Proposed and seconded, That subscriptions be asked for. Anyone subscribing 1 five shilling's or more, to be called an hon. associate. — Carried. Proposed and seconded, That Miss Braithwaite be asked to be Diocesan Literature Associate. — Carried. Proposed and seconded, That a report of this meeting 1 be printed m the Waiapu Gazette. — Carried. Question was asked how copies of "The Mother" could be obtained. Mrs Ruddock said it could be done by writing* to Miss K. Harris, Queen street, Brisbane. Payments for the same to be made to Miss Harris. Proposed and seconded, That meeting's of the Diocesan Council should be held on the first Mondays m June and September. — Carried. HAVELOCK. The monthly service was held on April sth. There was a, good attendance, notwithstanding a heavy thunder shower. The subject of the Vicar's address was "Joy." Seven new members were admitted. Social gathering m the schoolroom afterwards, when Mrs F. Nelson made some very practical suggestions with regard to making much needed improvements to the church furniture, and a committee was elected to follow up her suggestions.
