Dicoese of Waiapu.
Bishopric Endowment Fund. We are glad to know that some parishes m the diocese are already earnestly doing their best towards the completion of this Fund. With a united effort, the diocese can undoubtedly complete the Fund before the meeting of Synod, and as a matter of fact, we are bound m honour to do so. The lay members of Synod resolved to do this, and it remains for them to carry this resolution into effect. Many have, we understand, written letters asking for subscriptions ; but beyond this a personal canvass is necessary. In every parish and district, all church people without exception, should be asked to contribute. Some may not be able to give much ; but all can give something. Collecting cards will be immediately issued for the use of collectors. If it is thoroughly understood that small sums will be welcomed as well as large, there will be no difficulty m collecting the £2500, which will gain the subsidy of a like sum. But the cordial support of the clergy is also necessary. It is for them to see that these cards are given to collectors. Upon the help of the clergy the success of the scheme will mainly depend.
