PARTY POT BROADCAST

High? there Murray,

Thought your readers may be interested in a few words from the party that is going to ‘legalise freedom’. Ever been hassled by the law for having a smoke, maybe you have a conviction for it, or had your favourite plant ripped off, or been busted for your illicit crop. Or maybe you are just paying too much for it, or prefer prime organic sensi to all the electric hydro gear that’s around, or don’t want to see tinnie housies selling pot to kids. Maybe you just give a damn about people’s right to choose. If you are any of the above you may want to consider giving your Party Vote this election to the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party. We’re a bunch kiwis that realised, (1)

we can’t trust the politicans to do it, and (2) MMP has given us an opportunity to do it ourselves. Cannabis is a major part of our culture. Music and cannabis and having a good time is where hundreds of thousands of people are at, every day. But still the politicos keep, their heads in the sand and waste our taxes sending out the police to bust us. Seems a wee bit queer really. I thought the police are here to protect our rights. So, how about a vote for friendly police? Let’s get politicians out of adults’ private lives and concentrate police on real crime — like those bastards who are ripping off all the band gear around town. Our party has two main policies. The first is harm ‘minimisation’ as the governing factor in relation to drug policy. For cannabis, our ‘homegrown’ policy would allow adults to cultivate up to five plants per household. There would be similar controls to alcohol re driving, workplace, kids etc. If you have a criminal record for personal cannabis — forget it. We will wipe all records. As for other drugs, we would establish a permanent Drug Policy Council to constantly monitor drugs and apply the best policy to reduce harm to both the individual and the community. We also strongly believe elected representatives should be fully accountable, constantly. We would extend the Employment Contracts Act to politicians, so those elected on the Party List could be fired, not in three years, but tomorrow, if they bullshitted and carried on against the will of the people that put them there. Don’t trust anyone, make them legally accountable! We don’t want to run the country, it’s just a couple of minor points that we need to sort out and we need your help. It will only take 100,000 ‘Party’ votes to get six motivated people into Parliament to kick some butt and make it happen. On October the 12 the cannabis law is on trial, and your tick can register a real vote of support for freedom in Aotearoa. Mike Finlayson, Deputy Leader ALCP, Auckland.
