VARIOUS ARTISTS

A Thin Line Between Love and Hate Soundtrack (Warner) It usually follows that if the soundtrack is good the film sucks, or vice versa. Case in point: Dangerous Minds. This film stars Martin Lawrence, with support from Roger E Mosley (anyone remember Magnum PI?) and some guy called Bobby Brown (anyone remember Mr Houston?). Unfortunately for Lawrence this album is good, so I guess I the film... isn’t? Fifteen tracks, ranging from R Kelly’s Freak Tonight to the Luniz’ Ring My Bell. In between we also get Tevin Campbell, Soopafly, LBC Crew, Dru Down, Smooth, and — Mr Zapp himself — Roger Troutman, sounding very fine indeed with the help of Shirley Murdock for ‘Chocolate City’.

Lawrence also ‘exec-prods’ this album, so I guess he’s got his bases covered.
