FUNDS INCREASE FOR NZ MUSIC
NZ On Air have increased their budgets for making NZ music videos and NZ Music radio programming. The video clip scheme has increased by SIOO,OOO to $250,000 while the programming budget has also increased by SIOO,OOO to $300,000 for the year. The pilot video scheme funded 36 New Zealand clips including such as Push Push's What My Baby Likes' and MC OJ & Rhythm Slave's 'Money
Warries' that have had in excess of 20 screenings over TV2 and TV3.
The NZ Music on Radio Scheme has resulted in 758 hours of music
programmes on 16 commercial and student radio stations. Examples of funded programmes are Counting the Beaton Auckland's 91 fm and Campus
Radio shows such as 95BFM's Freak the Sheep, Crash Hot and Do It Like This.
Brendan Smyth of NZ On Air comments: 'We took a punt on these two schemes back in July and it's paid off. We are getting good results and this has encouraged NZ On Air to increase the funds available for these two schemes."
The latest eight video projects to be funded are:
1. Greg Johnson 'lsabelle' (Pagan) 2. Rikki Morris 'I Can't Give You
Anything' (Mushroom). 3. These Wilding Ways 'Set Love
A-Sail' (Tall Poppy). 4. Push Push 'Bullfrogs' (Tall Poppy). 5. D-Faction 'Babe I'm Not Original' (Southside). 6. Dead Flowers 'Lisa' (Wildside). 7. Muttonbirds 'Dominion Road' (Front Lawn).
8. Maree Sheehan 'Just Because It's Different (Tangata).
