Tasmanian Stone.

About 200 tons of Tasmanian stone for use in construction of the Bridge of Remembrance in Christchurch will be shipped from Hobart this month by the Union Company’s steamer Kaiapoi. It is the desire of both the committee and the contractors to see the work going forward expeditiously, and it is the intention of the committee to arrange the ceremony of laying the foundation-stone of the memorial arch for Anzac Day. The Tasmanian stone which will be used in connection with the memorial portions of the bridge is white in colour, of an attractive appearance, and is said to weather well. The contract price for the bridge is and the committee still requires about £IOOO.
