Patents of Interest to Builders.

CONCRETE BLOCK. patent, No. 46,218, has been taken out by E. J. Rampling, Collins Street, Melbourne, which

consists of a concrete block for the purpose indicated, formed in two parallel parts, said parts being connected togther preferably about midway of their length by con-

crctc transverse tics formed integral therewith, thus leaving a space between said parts through which air can pass both vertically and horizontally. Both ends of each of these parallel parts are provided with a rectangular vertical slot, which slot extends the full depth of the part. A semicirular groove extends longitudinally along the centre of the top portion of each of these parallel parts and connects with the rectangular vertical slot at each end of said parallel part the lower portion of each of these parallel parts is formed with a longitudinal centrally arranged projecting semicirular tongue which is adapted to engage with said semicirular groove when one block is placed upon another in the construction of a building. The ends of the said parallell parts are preferably formed with an angle, in which case two distinct blocks are required in the construction of a building, the angle of one part being inclined in the opposite direction to the angle of the other part, so that when the two blocks are placed end on to one another one block will interlock with the other. In lieu of said parallel parts being constructed

with angle ends, they may be made with rectangular ends, in which case one block simply butts against another when in use. Tile, Sheet, &c, Manufacture.—A patent, No. 44,706, has been taken out by S.
