Auckland Architectural Students' Association
We again have pleasure in illustrating some work by the members of the above association. These drawings are "Esquisse-esquisse" subjects, and the competitions were inaugurated mainly to develop the designing faculties of the student and to help him to become quick in draughtmanship. Only two hours were allowed for the designing and working out of the subject, which is not made known beforehand. In the work reproduced—a design for a Palladian bridge, no first mention, 11. L. Massey was awarded second mention : another subject is a design for an Architectural Magazine cover in which R. B. Owen was awarded first mention and 11. L. Massey second mention.
The Secretary of the Auckland Students' Association has been good enough to send us a letter (reproduced below), which shows that our efforts to assist "The Architect of To-morrow," are at least appreciated by them. The letter runs as follows:
C/of. R. K. Binney, 41 and 42, Cleaves Buildings, Auckland. Mr. IT. 11. Tombs, Wed., 20th Oct., 1915. Wellington. Dear Sir. On behalf of the Auckland Architectural Students Association. I wish to express our appreciation of your efforts in helping along the Association of this city for we all feel that through the medium of your paper the Association has received great assistance.
If at any time we can be of service to you am sure we would be only too pleased to render it. Again thanking you, I am, Yours faithfully, Horace L. Massey, Acting Secretary.
