Old People’s Home Competition, Awapuni

We understand that Messrs. F. de J. Clere, F.R.1.8.A., and W. B. Busby, of Wellington, were awarded first place in this Competition, Messrs. Penty and Lawrence being second. The Chief Architect of Public Works, who acted as assessor, advises that in his opinion the winning design could not be built for the sum stipulated, viz., £5500. In consequence of this the prize is being held over until a builder’s estimate is obtained.
