When the late Mr. Dick was enumerating the good points of a cottage lie was anxious to take, some one said the place was not big enough to swing a cat in. But ho said he didn’t want to swing a cat in it. It may bo thought, therefore, that vulgarity will never be achieved because no one wants to be vulgar. But towns and villages do get vulgarised nevertheless. Some people without knowing it enjoy vulgarity for its own sake. If inhabitants they feel more at home the deeper the place sinks into vulgarity.
