Mr. H. Irwin writes us drawing attention to an ■error which appeared in last issue, viz : — that Roman candles were not, as stated, the means used for scaring birds, but Chinese crackers. The ingenious way in which the latter are automatically fired will be seen on referring to page 1 5 of last issue.
