Page 89. Henry F.Begg charged with stealing 4 bullocks the property of Messrs. Beattie and Gold has been arrested and discharged.
MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION. The members of the criminal class hereunder named and described have left Invercargill en route for the Nokomai „ and the Lakes :
Ned Dunbar alias Clarke alias Barr , about 38 years old, 5 feet 8| inches, stout build, sallow complexion, dark hair, two large brown marks on' back, red spot on ■ right cheek, scar in centre of forehead, a sawyer. James Davies alias Bromey Davies , who served a sentence for horse stealing in the Province, having been arrested by Sub-Inspector Percy. Tommy Lancaster alias Tommy the Dancer alias John Jones , about 30 years old, 5 feet 6| inches high, mid build, fresh complexion, dark ■ brown hair, small cut in centre of - upper lip,- marks of cupping on back of neck, and on left breast, 12 leech marks on chest, small burn on right arm, an Englishman. Jack Smith alias Slumpey alias Harry O'Neil who was discharged from Pentridge in June, 1863, after having completed a sentence •of seven years foi : robbery in company. These men will most likely be found at a shanty kept by one Walter Harris alias Billy Waterloo , at'the Nokomai; they are suspected of stealing 1 a single barrelled gun, light colored stock, twist barrel, brass sight and patent breech. Maker’s name believed to be Moore, in brass. letters on, top of breech ; has a dove roughly carved on a small brass plate let into the stock on the right hand side, can be identified.
