Dunedin, 6th July, 1863. Amended description of the missing mare* the property of the late Joseph Smith alias j “ Yorkey ” who was murdered at Miller’s ; Flat, on the 23rd or 24th March last. j The brand is illegible hut there is a straight , mark from a cut on the near shoulder,' about j 3 or 4 inches long, also 3 white marks under j saddle on off side, one of them 12 inches, and the other two about 8 inches each in length, caused by the mare, when young, having been cut, the hair has grown white on the places. The injury to the eye only observable on close inspection.
