HIGHWAY ROBBERY.
About 2 o’clock on the morning of the 29th April, 1833, as John Murray, a carrier, was proceeding on his wav home at. North Duned n. lie was accosted by a man with whom; he bad, bee> placing at: skittles, at the Provincial Ski’ tle Aliev, who asked Mur-av to go wi h him to the Royal Heor<re Hotel to iref a drink. They wenf there together. but foun the house closed. • He left to return ; back home, when sh blenlv two men rushed on him. one of the m striking him on the head with a stone, inflicting a dangerous wound, and knocked him down whilst the other man rifled his pockets and took therefrom four; £1 notes, abont 20s. in silver, a' very old fashioned open face double case verge watch : maker, Roger, London, No. 1. 100. 280 -2 ho’es in back. One of the nun is described as about 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh fair 'complexion,u no beard or whiskers, :dressed in dark coloured tweed coat,'ami dark billv co k lint.
