EXTRACTS FROM VICTORIAN POLICE GAZETTE.
Goretto Alberto is charged (warrant expected) with the murder of Guiseppe Stagnia, at Ironstone Flat, Epsom, on the morning of the 22nd instant. The offender, who /is a Sardinian, is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, very slight build, dark complexion, sunken cheeks, long thin nose, high cheek bones, small dark moustache and small goatee. The circumstances in this case seem to prove the offender insane. He arrived in Victoria per Gofredi Mamili in 1855 or 1856, and for the following two years was employed by one Corredina, a storekeeper at Daylesford, since which time he has resided principally in the Sandhurst district. Fie has acquaintances near Mount Blackwood and at Redcastle. When in Melbourne he resides at the Pension Suisse, Lonsdale Street east, or at another foreign boarding-house in Swanston Street. He is known to the men at Corredini’s coal yard, Spring Street. Supposed to have arrived in Otago by one of the steamers.
William Radley, alias Jowett, is charged on warrant, with wilfully and maliciously setting fire to the premises occupied by him in George-street, Sydney,' on the 20th December last. The offender, whose arrest for fraud and manslaughter is gazetted p. 273, 1860, is about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10
inches high, long thin hair, very large bushy ■whiskers mixed with grey and nearly white on the chin, and broad features; known in N.S.W. as the Honorable William Radley; wore when last seen a faded black cloth coat, and black hat with deep hand. He seldom wears a shirt collar; his general appearance is dirty, fie. formerly conducted the Index newspaper in Sydney. He is identical with Dr. Jowett, alias Radley, arrested for manslaughter, p. 273, 1860. 23rd Feby., 1863.
A warrant has been issued against one Green, alias J. Mclllwain, for assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty, and escaping from custody, at Landsborough, on the evening of the 19th February. The offender is a north of Ireland man, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, medium build, thin pale features, no whiskers, no moustache wore dark tweed coat and vest, bedford cord trousers, and wide-awake hat. He is supposed to have gone to New'Zealand. 2nd March, 1863.
