•Stolen on the afternoon of Monday, 3rd inst. from the fob pocket of David Merniss while under the influence of drink, a Patent Silver Lever Hunting Watch, maker’s name unknown, No. 5457.

Stolen, last night, from the bedroom. of John Nixon Graham, dealer, Farley’s Arcade, Dunedin, a Silver Lever Watch, double-cased, J. N. G. on back, No. 28,750; also a Lady’s Gold Chain, small links.

Vide Police Gazette , 14th April, 1862. - The patent lever watch, with following inscription inside the. case : —“ Presented to W. Berlin, by the singing class in connection with the.Greenlaw Church, Glasgow, February 28, 1859,” stolen from Allan M‘Donald at Waipori on 18th ult., lias not yet been recovered.

William Rutherford, of the firm of William and Rutherford, reported to the Waitahuna Police on 13th April, that between 11 p.m. on 12th and 8 a.m. on 13th instant, he was robbed of about £4O in notes, gold, and silver, and 6 rings made of Otago gold, none of which were identifiable.

Rutherford states that the property was stolen from a cash box in the bed-room of his store at Waitahuna, where he placed it oil the night of the 12th instant, but it seems doubtful whether a robbery has been committed, or whether Rutherford is endeavouring to defraud his partner. ■**''"

At 10.45 p.m. on 13th April, a hay-shed and contents, the property of Messrs. Orbell’& Son, Hawkesbury, was discovered to be on fire. It would appear doubtful whether the damage was the work of an incendiary or. the result of accident, but it appears’ that a drunken man, of whom no description can be given, called at Mr. Orbell’s house about 9.30 p.m., and asked for lodgings.. On being refused he went away in the direction ol the hay-shed.

A man named George Poortea reported -to the Weatherstone Police. on 13th April, that between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., the uuundermention property was stolen from a carpet bag in .his tent at the Junction of Weatherstone s- viz.,, one £lO note and three £5 notes on the. Colonial Bank of Australasia,. three £1 notes on the Bank of New Zealand,- and ss. 6d. in silver.

, The informant states that he left his tent to get some fire-wood, and on his return found that the carpet bag had been forced open, and the money, which is not identifiable, taken out-

Stolen from the rear of the City Bowling Saloon, Dunedin, between 19th and 24th instant, the property of Charles Bilson, of Bell Hill, the following described property: —1 trying plane, 1 smoothing plane, 1 hand saw, 1 hammer, 1 oil-stone, 1 saw sett, and a canvass bag, identifiable.

Horse Stealing. A warrant was issued on the 14th inst. for the arrest of Charles Ferguson, for stealing on -7th inst., . at Dunedin, a bay . horse, branded CA off shoulder, two white hind feet.

Description of Offender. — About 28 years of age, 5 feet Sin. high, full face, stout build, sandy moustache; was engaged some two months ago coach driving at Dunedin. ■ The horse is the property of John George, of High-street, Dunedin.', ... j .. . •*;
