OBITUARY
MRS. M. H. HUGHES, ROTORUA. The death occurred at Rotorua on August 20, of Mrs. M. H. Hughes, relict of the late Mr. E. J. Hughes, a pioneer resident of Pahiatua. The deceased lady, who was aged about - 58 -years, was very well known and popular in that district, where she had a great many friends. She had been residing at Rotorua for several years past, being an invalid for a lengthy period. The late Mrs. | Hughes was a most devout Catholic and bore - her sufferings patiently, she was attended in her last illness by Very Rev. Dean Lightheart. The-deceased leaves two sons (Oscar and Leo) to mourn the loss of a devoted mother.R.l.P. MR. JOHN KERSHAW, WANGANUI. By the death of Mr. John Kershaw, which occurred recently, the Wanganui painting trade - lost one of its best tradesmen. Born in Wanganui 53 years ago, Mr. Kershaw lived-in Wanganui all his life, and was on the - staff, of Tingeys, Ltd., for the long period of over 30 years, besides being employed by, other firms at intervals. , A capable tradesman, popular with his workmates and clients alike, “Jack” had an exceedingly kindly and generous disposition, -being^always among the' first to render assistance : in - cases of need brought to his notice, and his attention to his late mother and y invalid" sister are too well known to - ,need; repeating. ’He was a model son and v brother, and Wanganui is the poorer by his - passing.
