(From our own correspondent.) - , _ July 2. ; Now. that the new convent is nearing completion strenuous efforts are being made to collect the remainder of the money needed. A bazaar is to be held at Christmas - time, and meanwhile the different stallholders are working hard. Euchre tournamentswhich are proving profitable ventures — are being field every .Monday night. Last evening a fancy dress ball was held in St. Columba' Hall and attended by a large crowd. Despite the wintry weather the Sacred concert last Sunday evening was well attended. . • The Forty Hours’ Adoration began last Sunday morning and ended on Tuesday morning. All the ceremonies were well attended and large numbers visited the church during ‘Exposition. A beautiful sermon on the Blessed Sacrament was preached by Father Healey (Ross) on Monday night. On Monday morning a number of children made their First Holy Communion. The little girls and "Boys were afterwards given a Communion breakfast at St. Columba Hall. Mrs. F. McConville arrived last week to spend a long holiday with her mother (Mrs. M. Hannan). During her stay here Mrs. McConville will be a /great help to the choir, of which she was formerly a member. Early next week Miss M. O’Sullivan will leave for Christchurch where. she will reside in future. She will be accompanied by her brothers. ' " ' ' Owing to the wet weather last week-end all the football matches were postponed, but the Marist teams are still doing well in the /I • CC x J
