(From our own Correspondent.) , A i July 9. The Celtic Club met on Tuesday, the 7th inst. ; Rev. Father O’Doherty presiding over a large attendance. The evening was devoted to a debate on the subject, “Which would be the better Government for New Zealand under the present conditions— Reform, Liberal, or Labor?” The Reform Party was upheld by' Mr. P. V. Mcßrearty (leader) and Mr. G. Brady in support, the Liberal party by Mr, F. Meyer (leader) with Mr. L. P. Devlin in support. After a-very interesting discussion J the Liberals were declared the winners. ... This party will meet Labor at the next meeting of the club. The fortnightly euchre party under the auspices of the club was held on June 30. The prizes being won by (ladies) Mrs. L. Moran, (gents) Mr. C. O’Neill.
