WEDDING BELLS
HAILES—COUGHLAN. A pretty wedding which occasioned con siderable interest was solemnised by Rev Father Fraher at St. Joseph's Church, Ti muka, on September 3, the contracting par ties being Miss E. Coughlan, of Temuka, am Mr. C. Hailes, of Balfour. The bride, wh was led to the altar by lier eldest broth? (Mr. M. Coughlan, of Timaru), looked charm ing in a simple frock of ivory satin wit skirt and sleeves of radium lace, daintil; finished with clusters of pearls. Her veil wa arranged in butterfly style caught witl orange blossoms, and she carried a showe bouquet of Christmas roses and maiden-hai fern. The bride was attended by her siste: (Miss Clare Coughlan), who wore a dainty frock of apricot shot taffeta with ha" and bouquet to tone. Mr. Walter Hailes (bro ther of the bridegroom) attended as be* man. During the cevemonv firvoi'ooriaif music was rendered by Miss E. Dennehy, oi Timaru, and at the Offertory Abt's "Ave Maria" was sung by Miss Eileen Irwin, of Christchurch. Friends of the bride arr bridegroom were afterwards entertained a I the home of the bride, "Park View,'' am' after a sumptuous repast. the hanny counh left, amidst showers of confetti for'the North Island, en rout" to Kaikoura and Nelson; the bride travelling in a mauve frock beautifully embroidered in silver, over which was worn a short musquash coat. Her hat was of silver with mauve and pink flowers. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. Hailes will be at Balfour. The presents, which were numerous, splendidly varied, and valuable, included several cheques, ~.'■'
