Convent School, Pukekohe

A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. The past yean has been a particularly successful one for the pupils attending the Convent, School, Pukekohe. At the recent standard VI examination, fifteen were presented and fourteen obtained certificates of proficiency. The names of the successful pupils are:—Alice Beaglcy, Daisy Chadwick, Joan Cook, Dorothea Dunn, Ivy Thomas, Alma Gurney, Nancy Hanfling, Monica Jenyns, Isabel McCormack, Mary McDermott, Kathleen Robinson, Eileen Scanlan, Douglas McKean, and "William Taylor. At the Teachers' Examination, held in August last, Clorine Bell sat for a section of Class "D" and succeeded in obtaining a pass in Group 1. In the Music examination the pupils were equally successful. At the Practical exam., conducted by Mr. Mallinson, all those presented passed. Following were the results: Licentiate: Practical diploma, Bessie Milligan. Associate: Teachers' diploma, Lila Rae, Gwendoline Pulton. Higher Local (honors): Mary Pulman (singing). Senior Grade (honors): Muriel Thomas, (pass) Edna Herbert. Marv McGuire. Florence McKean, Joan Cook, Clorine Bell (singing). Intermediate Grade (honors): Dolly Ihaka, (pass) Lillian Chalker, Dorothy Sorowl. Junior Grade (honors): Molly Michie. Monica Jones, (nass) Kathleen Robinson, Margaret Crawford, Nellie Jordan, Nancy Hanfling (violin). Preparatory Grade: Lorna Courtney (violin). First Steps: Gwendoline Kier, Gertrude McKean . M the Theory examination hold in connection with the Trinity College, London, the following wore successful: Art of Teaching: Moriorie Richards. Rudiments: Mariorie Richards, Marv Pulman, Gwendoline Fulron. Intermediate: Clorine Bell, Maud Paton. Advance' Junior: Kathleen Noil, Ethel Oronin. Junior: Daisy Chadwick. Joan Cook. Kathleen Robinson. Brian Ledger, Grace Keating, Kathleen Cordon. Dnrotlion Dunn. Preparatory: Lilian Chalker, Molly Draffin, Monica Jones, Lucy Staunton. Six were successful in the Royal Academy Theory examination: Mariorie Richards, Clorine Bell, Ena Gerarditv, Muriel Thomas,' and Barbara Leatham, Edna Herbert. In the basket ball competition, the Convoy t «A" team, won (I|(V beautiful (.I.nII.MIJTO. shield, presented bv the Franklin T>.-;,„ nrv School*' B»wko« Rill Association. This Association has boon formed only within the vear, so tW, the Convent nunils have the. honor of holding the shield for the first time. A "rep" team from the school also Avon a small knock-out shield, which is to remain the permanent property of the school. The school vear was pleasantly terminated hv a most enjoyable picnic to Glen Brook on Tuesday, December 9.
