CONCERT AT SOUTH DUNEDIN
At the Town Hall, South Dunedin, on a recent evening, pupils of Madam MartinelliReggiardo gave a delightful concert in aid of the St. Vincent’s Orphanage Christmas fund. There was a crowded audience, and the efforts of the entertainers, the greater number of whom were juveniles, were thoroughly enjoyed. The item by the children of St. Vincent’s Orphanage was very pleasingly given and much appreciated. Following was the programme:—Overture, “Poet and Peasant” (Suppe), Miss Elueira Stenhonse; opening chorus, The St. Vincent de Paul’s Orphanage; action song, “The Flowers’ Lullaby,” Miss Lorraine Scott; boys’ song, “Welcome June,” Masters R. Arthur, A. Hunt, G. Lee, S. Lee, E. Johnson, J. Edgar; coon song, “Honey,” Miss Valda Horden; mezzo soprano solo, “La Serenata” (Tosti), Miss Aileen Driscoll-Shaw; character song, “The Old Cobbler,” Miss Vanda Duncan; baritone solo, “Harlequin” (Sanderson), Mr. Alec Snell; vocal solo (boy soprano), “Orpheus with his Lute,”' Master Norman West; action song, “Night Nursery,” Master Eric Johnson; piano solo, “Mazurka, 0. Minor,” Master Harry Dale; operatic solo (soprano), “Mia Piccirelea” from “Salvator Rosa” (Gome), Mrs. Fergus Me Ivor; military song, “Sergeant Daddy, V. Master John Edgar; vocal solo, “Up in the Sky” (Arundale), Miss Gladys Crossan; action song, “Plumstones,” Miss Mattie Edgar; vocal solo, “O’Sole Alio” (E. Wilson, R. Dalcom, N. West; closing song, “Goodnight,” by the juveniles. Miss Vanda Duncan was stage manageress, and Madame Alartinelli-Reggiardo musical directress and accompanist. Violin obbligatos were played by Miss Anna Briasco and Mr. W. Lo Gal. The lighting effects were in the capable hands of Mr. Geo. Simpson,
