A Successful Musical Student
At the recent Practical Examination of the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music, London, held in Auckland, Miss Phylis T. Halpin was the only candidate to gain the L.A.B. (Licentiate Associate Board) performers’ certificate. . .. .
Miss Halpin, still in her teens, received her musical education at the Convent of the Sisters of the Missions,. Lower Hutt. She now resides in Auckland with her parents who until recently were residents of Wellington. She attained her A.T.C.L. at the age of 15 years, and L.T.C.L. (with honors) at sixteen, and the same year passed five other examinations with honors in piano, violin, and singing. She was a boarder for eight year's at the Convent, Lower Hutt, and her sister (Moyah Lesley), who is her senior by about .eighteen months, and is now a Sister of Our Lady of the Missions at Christchurch, is equally proficient in musicpiano, violin, ’cello, and singing—all of which she is a capable teacher. Both young ladies were born in Napier. <X> ......
