DIOCESE OF AUCKLAND

(From our own correspondent.) , ... August 28. On Sunday afternoon, the 24th inst., the members of St. Patrick's Children of Mary Sodality assembled in the convent schoolroom for the purpose of making a presentation (a beautiful statue of the Madonna and Child) to their president, Miss A'. Condon, on the eve of her marriage. Rev, Father Bradley and Rev. Dr. Buxton were present at the function. A much appreciated musical programme was contributed by the following: Mrs. Monaghan, Misses Lillis, Casey, Jones, Little, Lonergan, and Petricevich. A most enjoyable afternoon was concluded by those present partaking of a delightfully prepared tea, for which the tables were most artistically decorated with daffodils and violets. Rev. Father Bradley (director of the sodality) spoke in eulogistic terms of Miss Condon's connection with the society, and wished her every happiness and prosperity in her new sphere in life. ... An impressive memorial ceremony (an extended report of which will be given next week) was held, on Sunday last at the Sacred Heart College. It was a gathering of the old boys of the college to do honor to those of their number who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War, and was numerously attended.
