Obituary
MRS. ELLEN BROPHY. NAPIER. The death occurred at Napier, on May 31, of Mrs. Ellen Brophy, relict of the late Edward Brophy. The deceased lady always took a prominent part in church work and was one of those concerned in raising funds for the erection of St. Patrick's Church. Mrs. Brophy was a native of Co. Tipperary, Ireland. During her last illness she was attended by Rev. Father Heffernan, S.M., who also officiated at the graveside. Mrs. Brophy leaves a grown-up family of two sons and four daughters to mourn their loss. One daughter is Rev. Mother Chanel of the Mission Convent, Lower Hutt. A son (John Michael) made the supreme sacrifice at Messines. —R.I.P. '
MRS. MARY RYAN, MANAIA, TARANAKI. The death occurred after a short illness of Mary Ryan, relict of the late John Ryan, of Manaia, Taranaki. She was attended during her illness by Rev. Father O'Dwyer and the Sisters of St. Joseph, and died fortified by the rites of Holy Church. The late Mrs. Ryan was a resident of the district for 40 years, and was predeceased by her husband by eleven years. She leaves a family of seven sons and two daughters (Miss Mary Ryan and Mrs. Edwin Burke). The interment took place lat t the Manaia cemetery on May 9, when a large number of people assembled to pay their last respects to deceased.—R.l.P. ,; y
