Our Irish History Competitions
Teachers will kindly notice that the 'date of the examination is October 23, not October 22, as we previously announced, overlooking the fact that a holiday falls on that day. ' "
As hitherto, the envelope containing the examination papers must not be opened until the commencement of the examination. As soon as possible after the examination, the three best papers in each division are to be posted to our office. '■'.,'
If the date appointed should clash with other examinations, teachers may hold the examination a day before, or a day after, the twenty-third of October, provided that there is not another school competing in the same parish.
Up to date of writing we have received applications for nearly four hundred papers. We urge those who have not yet applied to lose no time about it as the papers must be sent out by the end of the coming week. ..'.' '
The following donations and prizes have been received:
His Lordship Bishop Whyte, Gold Medal; Rev. Father D. Silk, Gold Medal ■; Rev. John Kelly, Newtown, £2 ; Rev. Fathers J. J. O'Reilly, B. Kaveney, M. Fogarty, J. McMonagle, G. Hunt, H. Woods, One Guinea each; "Killocia," ss. ' •. '■■ \
